Ireland v France

Allez Les Bleus! Berets will flood the streets later this week ahead of Ireland’s eagerly-awaited Six Nations joust with the French at the Aviva stadium.

Brian O’Driscoll’s men had a slow start to the campaign, scraping over the line against Italy in Rome courtesy of a crucial O’Gara drop goal in the last 90 seconds.

With the French fans hopefully travelling in numbers look for lines of men leaning against walls and railings eating bread and paté, drinking bottles of wine and looking generally full of joie de vivre. Laugh all you want, but it beats a bad pint and a dodgy hot dog.

Will they manage to smuggle a live cockerel onto the field? Vive la France, maybe, but let’s hope our rugby men will be sending them home with Molly Malone and The Fields ringing in their ears.
